Intended Future- Desktop AI Supercomputer

A major limitation to AI adoption in creative industries is the reluctance of designers to use cloud services for confidential data.

In this project with Swedish AI company Intended Future AB, I developed several hardware concepts for AI agents to be run locally.

Client: Intended Future AB

Location: Göteborg, Sweden

Year: 2026

Role: Industrial Design, Surfacing, Concept development, CMF, Visualisation, Prototyping

Why Local AI?

Studies have shown that designers are hesitant to trust their confidential designs to cloud based AI tools, where the sensitive results and data fed into the model could disappear into ethereal servers around the world.

Running models locally and keeping data on local machines lets designers and engineers keep control of their ideas while using powerful new tools.

Design and Development

Intended Future stems from the automotive sector, so I integrated that a little into the form. The design is simple, but considers airflow and usability— stackable for daisy-chaining multiple units.

Autofuturism CMF

Car factory chic, layered metallic gloss, Smooth surface transitions, paint and plastic with orthographic precision.

Single Span Surfacing

I built the basic form factor using single span surfaces, allowing for maximum control over surface continuity and flow.

The flexible surfacing strategy, combined with quick renders and digital sketching, allowed me to explore ideas and refine the form with the client.

Grasshopper

For a final little automotive-inspired flourish I made a grasshopper script to create a fading dimple texture to give the design a bit more dynamism.

Desk Friendly Footprint

Since the Desktop AI is designed to integrate with the users existing IT setup, the footprint was intentionally kept small- designed to sit under a monitor, under a desk, on a shelf nearby.

Cool Solutions

For max efficiency, high airflow is essential. This concept uses: high cool-air throughput, metal bodywork for faster heat transfer, and greater intake than outtake to raise internal pressure and reduce dust buildup. Future revisions will refine the cooling solution.

Tactical AI- Sneak Peek

A portable offline AI supercomputer for rugged applications.

Collaboration with Intended Future AB.

Intended Future are developing an offline portable AI agent for use in outdoor and emergency applications. The agent can support with data analysis in extreme situations.

The agent can be used as either a desktop peripheral to existing hardware, or even plugged into aerial and submersible drones for intelligent decision making.
